68-year-old woman on cocaine charge
21.05.12
A 68-year-old woman is one of two people on trial for having cocaine in their possession for the purpose of trafficking.
It is alleged that cocaine packages were found concealed in the Clarks leather shoes worn by Grace Pierre-Holder, 68, of Gasparillo, and 29-year-old Deanah John-Finn of Claxton Bay.
The court heard that Pierre-Holder and John-Finn were at the old Piarco International Airport waiting to board an American Airlines flight to London, via Miami, on February 10, 2000 when the alleged bust was made.
The trial is being heard before Justice Carla Brown-Antoine and an eight-member jury in the Fifth Criminal Court at the Hall of Justice in Port of Spain.
Leading evidence on behalf of the State are attorneys Renuka Rambhajan and Taterani Seecharan while Pierre-Holder is being represented by attorneys Theodore Guerra SC and John Heath. Appearing on behalf of John-Finn is attorney Ravi Rajcoomar.
Sgt Miguel Montrichard, the State's first witness, testified yesterday that he was on duty at the airport's sterile holding bay (departure lounge) when he received certain information at around 7.20 a.m.
