Wooden Shoes Win Sectional
21.05.12
The T-town Wooden Shoes take home the Sectional Plaque with a 67 to 59 win over the Robinson Maroons. The Shoes now advance to the Super-Sectional at the University of Springfield Tuesday, March 6 against Bloomington/Normal U High, who beat out Pleasant Plaines by seventeen points.
The win against Robinson was quite a show. Leading the first quarter, the Shoes had 17 points while holding the Maroons to score only one basket. The second quarter was the Maroon's highest scoring quarter with 23 points, but that wasn't enough to hold off the Shoes. The sound of the buzzard at half time had the Shoes walking off the court with a 31 to 25 lead. After half time, the Wooden Shoes did not hold back scoring 19 points in the third quarter and finishing with 17 in the fourth quarter. The Robinson Maroons fell short scoring 59 points against the Shoes. Kyle Pruemer and Mark Niebrugge led the team with 8 rebounds each.
"The guys played well, I am proud of their efforts. A great team win," stated coach Fehrenbacher after a great win on Friday night. The Shoes will be back in action Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Springfield, Illinois.
