Broc Brown’s family has trouble finding clothes that fit him, especially shoes.
He wears a size 24 shoe, which is bigger than what Shaquille O’Neal wears. Broc is 14 years old and when he has a growth spurt, he has a growth spurt.
Pam Brook, his stepmother, said they have not been able to get a true measurement, but estimates Broc to be at least 7-feet, 6-inches tall. She said he has an N1F1 chromosome, which results in unusual body growth.
In recent months, Brown has had to squeeze his feet into size 22 athletic shoes because no store or manufacturer makes shoes that size. Brook was talking with a friend about the problems the family was having finding shoes for Broc, and Todd Harder, owner and operator of Red Paint in Adrian, decided to see what he could do.
In his shop, Harder works with several different shoe companies, including Vans, Nike and Reebok, but couldn’t find one that made shoes large enough.
“I talked to Nike and they agreed to try, so we traced his feet and sent it in,” Harder said. “We were even looking for some hand-me-downs from NBA players, but nobody wears shoes that large.”
