Some Parents Unhappy about Skechers…

(EndPlay Staff Reports) - There are pink, sparkly and promise to help wearers firm up their thighs and derriere while getting fit and having fun. While it sounds like an accessory that might be found in a pole dancing fitness class, it's not – it's something marketed toward little girls.
Skechers has recently introduced a shoe from its popular "Shape-Ups" line in girls' sizes. And parents and podiatrists aren't happy about it.
Though the shoes are available in youth sizes 2 and above, they've struck a nerve with parents of children even younger. According to a report from the New York Daily News , the butt-toning shoes for girls have been advertised during popular programs for pre-school-aged children on Nickelodeon and the Cartoon Network.
The commercial features thin, fit girls in the Skechers sneakers outrunning sluggish boys dressed as junk food. View the video here .
Skechers doesn't make a Shape-Up shoe for boys.
A Skechers spokesman and other supporters of the Shape-Ups for girls rave about how the shows encourage girls to get active. President of Skechers Fitness Group Leonard Armota has even compared the new kicks to First Lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" campaign, according to the New York Daily report.
