Brandon Day puts fun on display

The fireworks show capping the end of Brandon Day festivities is scheduled to fill the skies around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
"But that's always flexible," says Michael Taggart, Brandon's director of parks and recreation.
A few years ago, country music star Travis Tritt was having so much fun, he played an hour longer than scheduled.
"That's why we say it's flexible - if the artist and the fans are having fun, we don't hold them to an exact time," Taggart says.
Brandon Day is more like Brandon Weekend at Shiloh Park. The festival runs today through Saturday, with music, food, rides, arts and crafts, a barbecue cooking competition and more than a few slices of patriotic celebration.
This year's music headliner, Randy Houser, should feel right at home during his Saturday show at 8:30 p.m. He was born in Jackson and grew up in Lake. His hits include Boots On, Anything Goes and Whistlin' Dixie. He is also an accomplished songwriter, penning Trace Adkins' hit Honky Tonk Badonkadonk.
